Description of Oxidized Bitumen 150/5:

Oxidized Bitumen 150/5 is a specialized type of bitumen derived from petroleum bitumen (specifically Bitumen 60/70) through a controlled process of air blowing. This unique grade of bitumen is characterized by its hard and breakable nature. It falls within the category of semi-solid oxidized bitumen and is rich in polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. Oxidized Bitumen 150/5 finds extensive application in the construction industries for various purposes.

To make Oxidized Bitumen 150/5 usable, it must be heated to a temperature range of 200°C to 300°C, which is double the softening point temperature, in order to achieve the required flow and viscosity. Typically, heating such hard oxidized bitumen is accomplished by circulating hot oil within an insulated jacket.

The production of Bitumen Oxide 150/5 involves blowing hot air over penetration grade bitumen in a controlled process until the desired specifications are achieved. The name “150/5” denotes the softening point at 150°C and a penetration value of 15 desi millimeters. This product is manufactured in compliance with ASTM standards.

Uses of Oxidized Bitumen 150/5:

Oxidized Bitumen 150/5 finds application in various industries and for diverse purposes, including but not limited to:

Application of Oxidized Bitumen 150/5:

Before using Oxidized Bitumen 150/5, it’s essential to prepare the surfaces adequately. The surfaces should be dry, clean, free of loose particles, curing products, irregularities, and slurry. Failure to clean the area before application may result in poor adhesion, and the bitumen may not bond effectively.

Storage/Handling of Oxidized Bitumen 150/5:

Oxidized Bitumen 150/5 has a shelf life of 10 years, and it can withstand multiple heating and cooling cycles. It’s advisable to store it under shelter to protect it from rain and sunlight. Refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for detailed storage and handling instructions.

Packing of Oxidized Bitumen 150/5:

BITUPLUS Co. offers Oxidized Bitumen 150/5 in various packaging options, including:

Typically, the bags of oxidized bitumen are palletized, with 40 bags per pallet. A 20-foot container can accommodate 20 pallets for shipping purposes.
