Oxidized Bitumen 115/15 Description:

Oxidized Bitumen 115/15 is derived from petroleum bitumen through a process involving the blowing of bitumen 60/70 with hot air. This particular grade, Bitumen 115/15, is one of the most commonly used oxidized bitumen grades, constituting approximately 70% of our production capacity. It falls into the category of semi-solid oxidized bitumen and is characterized by its high softening point, high flash point, and remarkable stability during the melting process.

Production Process: Bitumen 115/15 is manufactured by a special process known as NON-OXIDATION but MODIFICATION of VACUUM BOTTOMS at a temperature of 230°C. This process results in a bituminous material with a higher penetration index. The product, which exhibits predominantly “solid” characteristics at ambient temperatures, possesses superior adhesive and waterproofing qualities when applied hot and allowed to cool compared to traditional Oxidized Bitumen.

Quality Assurance: BITUPLUS Company ensures the quality of BITUPLUS Oxidized Bitumen 115/15 by employing international inspectors to verify both quality and quantity during the loading process onto vessels. Additionally, production is monitored by QC through batch test reports before shipping, guaranteeing compliance with ASTM standards.

Applications: Oxidized Bitumen 115/15 is versatile and finds applications in various industries, including:

Application Guidelines: Bitumen 115/15 should be heated to double the temperature of its softening point to achieve proper flow and viscosity, typically up to 230°C. Additionally, if bitumen bags are used, extra temperature may be required to melt the bags, around 50°C more.

Before applying Bitumen 115/15, surfaces must be dry, clean, and free from loose particles, curing products, irregularities, and slurry. Proper surface preparation ensures optimal adhesion and performance.

Storage and Handling: Oxidized Bitumen 115/15 has a shelf life of up to 10 years, provided it undergoes multiple heating and cooling cycles. It is advisable to store Bitumen 115/15 in a sheltered area, protected from rain and direct sunlight.

For application, Bitumen 115/15 can be heated to a temperature between 180°C to 200°C and applied either by mopping or the pour and roll method.

Please note that specific application requirements may vary depending on industry standards and regional regulations. Always refer to the product specifications provided by the manufacturer or supplier for precise information on handling and application.

Packing of Oxidized Bitumen 115/15:

BITUPLUS Co. offers Oxidized Bitumen 150/5 in various packaging options, including:

Typically, the bags of oxidized bitumen are palletized, with 40 bags per pallet. A 20-foot container can accommodate 20 pallets for shipping purposes.
