Bitumen Membrane Sheet for Waterproofing

Introduction to Bitumen Waterproofing Membrane

Waterproofing Bitumen Membrane Sheets, hereafter referred to as WPBS, represent the pinnacle of achievement in the field of waterproofing, driven by scientific and technological advancements. These products provide robust protection against the adverse effects of rain and snow water infiltration into structures, spanning from their foundations to their roofs. By incorporating various polymers and synthetic fibers, WPBS undergo rigorous testing in state-of-the-art laboratories to enhance their resistance to both high and low temperatures, tensile stress, and water penetration.

Our Waterproofing Bitumen Membrane Sheet

BITUPLUS WPBS exhibits outstanding endurance, complemented by its lightweight construction and resistance to temperature fluctuations, including cold and heat, as well as expansion and contraction. It is available in two versions: one featuring an aluminum cover and the other with a polyethylene film. The base product comes in two primary types: single-layered (nonwoven Spunbond polyester) and double-layered (comprising stringed fiber gloss tissue and 110 gr polyester), providing the product with enhanced tensile strength to withstand structural vibrations. WPBS finds versatile applications in waterproofing roofs, water canals, tunnel foundations, dams, pools, sloped surfaces, and more.

Furthermore, BITUPLUS Bitumen membrane sheets are fortified with two layers of fiberglass and non-woven tissues, incorporating a “needle-type” polyester. This combination not only offers cost-effectiveness but also delivers excellent utility qualities, ensuring additional directional stability and extending the surface’s lifespan.

These Bitumen Membrane Sheets are ideally suited for a wide range of waterproofing applications, delivering effective protection and durability in various construction and infrastructure projects.

Application of BITUPLUS Waterproofing Bitumen Membrane Sheet

BITUPLUS Humidity Insulators:

BITUPLUS humidity insulators find applications in various structures and surfaces, including:

Surfaces of Waterproofing Bitumen Membrane Sheet:

To ensure comprehensive maintenance after production, BITUPLUS insulators feature the following surface treatments:

BITUPLUS Bitumen membrane sheets are manufactured with and without aluminum coatings, catering to both standard usage and export purposes. Additional layers of aluminum foil increase thermal resistance and protect the membrane from direct sunlight radiation, enhancing the durability of the insulators. These insulators have a smooth and aesthetically pleasing appearance, making them particularly suitable for sloping surfaces.

Special Properties of BITUPLUS Waterproofing Bitumen Membrane Sheet:

BITUPLUS Waterproofing Bitumen Membrane Sheets offer several special properties, including:

These properties make BITUPLUS insulators a reliable choice for waterproofing applications, ensuring long-lasting protection and cost-efficiency.

Installation and Affixing of BITUPLUS Waterproofing Bitumen Membrane Sheet:

To install BITUPLUS Waterproofing Bitumen Membrane Sheet, it should be heated using a torch with liquid gas. Ensure that the lower surface of the bitumen membrane sheet adheres to the overlapping parts. Heat the lower surface only enough to melt the surface of the membrane; overheating may damage the reinforced layers. Overlaps must be heated again from the upper parts and welded to provide a seamless union.

Before affixing WPBS, consider the following:

  1. The surface to be covered must be stable enough not to displace under potential weight pressures. Roofs should be covered with lightweight concrete and finished with a 2 cm thick layer of sand and cement mortar. Surfaces that are already asphalted do not require sand and cement mortar.
  2. The surface to be covered with WPBS must be smooth, clean, and dry.
  3. To enhance the adhesion of WPBS, apply a layer of primer and fast-drying pitch derivatives to the surface.
  4. Ensure that all surfaces have a slope toward the drain pipe to prevent water concentration in one area. The maximum recommended slope is 5%.
  5. Rolls of WPBS should not be opened in adverse weather conditions like rain, snow, and hail. Each roll of WPBS should have an overlap of 7-10 cm and an off-lap of 15 cm. Use a gas torch to affix the rolls along their length, and splice overlapping/off-lapping parts carefully to create a smooth surface.

MEMBRANE FAQ:

Q. What is an APP modified bituminous membrane? A. It is a multi-layer waterproofing membrane made of APP modified bitumen.

Q. What is the membrane made of? A. It consists of a center carrier in reinforced polyester (extremely strong and with excellent stretching performance). It is also available in a compound base Glass Fiber and Glass Fiber reinforced polyester for double layer membranes. Two layers of polymer-modified bitumen (for waterproofing) and a top layer made of materials such as polyethylene, aluminum, sand, or mineral slate flake. There’s also a bottom easy-melting film to facilitate torching application.

Q. How do you apply APP membranes? A. APP membranes are applied using torch-on application. A flame contact causes melting on the surface of the membrane, which is then pressed onto the substrate with overlaps from adjoining membranes.

Q. What kind of surfaces are suitable for membrane installation? A. APP membranes can be applied on sloping surfaces (flat and high slope), curved surfaces, different types of laying surfaces (concrete, metal, wood), and for various uses such as roofs, reservoirs, basements, tunnels, and car parks.

Q. What is the roll size? A. The roll is 1m wide x 10m long. Different roll sizes may also be available upon request.
